Tell us about you (i.e. family, hobbies, special talents).

I love anything that involves a creative process and enjoy learning new crafts and skills. As a result, I have too many hobbies. I'm interested in typography, calligraphy, and anything involving design. Outside of hobbies that influence my profession, I've found that I am very interested in gardening, particularly organic and sustainable methods including xeriscape. I'm also interested in community and social activism. I'm a mom of two littles. It's my great joy to play a role in helping guide them as they become the two fantastic individuals and beautiful human beings they are already on their way to being. I feel so privileged to have that opportunity to be a part of their growth and to learn from them as much as I try to teach them.

Tell us about your job (where you work and what you do there).

I'm a freelance designer and work primarily in print design.

What made you join the Union Hall?

I chose to work from home because I have young children and needed the flexibility and independence it provided. While that has its benefits, it also has its distractions... the never ending pile of laundry, dishes that needed to be scrubbed, errands to run, Netflix calling my name... Other down sides included missing a working environment with feedback from peers, having to meet clients in coffee shops, or getting calls from clients wanting revisions immediately on weekends or late in the evening because they knew I worked from home. Working from the Union Hall gives me the benefits of working from an office and working for myself.

What has been the biggest benefit of being a Union Hall member?

I am surrounded by engaging people who motivate and inspire me. I have a professional, modern and comfortable working space to meet clients in rather than my home or a busy coffee shop. Because I rent a desk space I still have the flexibility of working the hours I want to work whether they be during the day or late in the evening or weekends. The space is affordable for me without the overhead of renting a space for myself and paying the utilities and high rent. It's truly been a great solution for me.

What did you do last weekend?

We traveled to Dallas for the weekend because my son plays club soccer.

Last song you played (or that Pandora/Spotify chose for you)?

Beverly Hills by Weezer

Where are you from?

Canyon, Texas

Where would you like to retire one day?

Somewhere green... with water and trees... where I can have a greenhouse and keep bees.
